“”On Wednesday 17th December, representatives from our Student Council went on a trip to Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. Our trip was facilitated by Aisling Dempsey TD. We got to sit in on the opening of a Dáil debate on a bill on banning fox hunting as well as a Seanad vote, which was such a treat! It was really interesting to see the vote in the Seanad as it came up on a screen to say who voted ‘Tá’ or ‘Níl’. They even called Scoil Mhuire out on live TV, which was so cool!
We got to tour the rest of the building and see the portraits of past Taoisigh, which we all found really interesting. To finish off, we read through the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and each one of us got a copy of it to take home.
Overall, it was a great trip and it was incredibly interesting to see how decisions are made by the politicians of our country”
